If you’re using Microsoft Teams in Safari on a Mac and keep seeing the message below, but clicking the Sign In button does absolutely nothing, this is a known issue with a straightforward fix.

We need you to sing in again. This could be a request from your IT department or Teams, or the result of a password update.
Why Does This Happen?
The culprit is almost always stale browser data. Safari stores cookies and cached site data for web apps, and over time, this data can become outdated or corrupted. Microsoft Teams is particularly sensitive to this, which is why Teams may stop working while other Microsoft 365 apps carry on just fine. This is a Safari-specific quirk, not a problem with your Microsoft account or your organisation’s IT setup.
How to Fix It
- Open Safari and go to Settings
- Click the Privacy tab
- Select Manage Website Data
- Search for Microsoft and Teams, then remove any matching entries
- Close and reopen Safari, then try signing into Teams again
In most cases, that’s all it takes.
Still Having Trouble?
If clearing the site data doesn’t resolve it, the issue may be related to your organisation’s Microsoft 365 tenant configuration, conditional access policies, or a deeper browser compatibility problem. That’s where professional IT support comes in.
